Two Knobby Tires® - Eco-Friendly Outdoor Gear

Eco-friendly outdoor gear

We believe it is important to offer high quality, outdoor gear that is organic, natural, eco-friendly, green, and/or recycled so that we can reduce our negative impact on the environment.

What makes a product eco-friendly?

A product can be classified as an eco-friendly if it meets one or more of the following criteria.

Biodegradable non-petroleum products are preferred over non-biodegradable petroleum products. In landfills, biodegradable waste degrades in the absence of oxygen.

  • Biodegradable Dog Waste Bags

Limits post-consumer waste - Products made from recycled materials and that use eco-friendly packaging can reduce the amount of trash that ends up in landfills.

Long lasting products that are extremely durable reduce the amount of trash that ends up in landfills.

Organic cotton apparel is produced without pesticides, genetically engineered crops, or agrochemicals. Further, it is manufactured using chemical-free dyes. There are strict federal regulations governing how it is grown and that must be met in order for it to be sold in the United States with an organic label. Finally, it does not contain residual chemicals that may irritate your skin.

Promote reuse by buying reusable products that reduce the amount of trash that ends up in landfills. For example, steel water bottles, BPA-free water bottles, and reusable grocery bags promote reuse instead of promoting the purchase and disposal of one-time use water bottles and shopping bags. Additionally, steel is one of the world's most recycled materials because it is easily separated from waste streams using magnets and is one of the easiest materials to reprocess.

Recyclable products can be recycled or are made using recyclable components. Recycling prevents waste of potentially useful materials, reduces the consumption of raw materials, decreases energy usage, and limits air and water pollution.

Reduce dependency on oil and carbon emissions by riding a bicycle to class, to work, or for errands. Accessories like helmets, lights, and wicking activewear make frequent biking safer and more feasible. The federal government is working to make it easier to ride a bike to work by subsidizing more paths and providing a $20/month tax break for those who do it. What's more, some cities offer rental bicycles.
